Unwanted Hair Happens To All Of Us
|
If you've been thinking that you were the only one with unwanted hair, think again. Almost every body has some area of unwanted hair.
Whether it's because it's grown too thick and become an embarrassment, or just because our society deems that it's inappropriate, unwanted hair is an issue we all can relate to.
Let's take a look at the first case, when hair has grown too thick and become an embarrassment. (We're not referring to any medical problems.) Specifically males who may have an abundance of unwanted hair on their chest, back, under their arms and even on their legs.
Since a male's masculinity is no longer equated with how much hair he has, it's doubtful that ALL of these males who do have exceptionally hairy bodies are proud of this fact. (There are bound to be a few caveman hang overs ...)
But especially when in today's social climate, hairless male bodies are considered more attractive by most, some of these males must be embarrassed by all this unwanted hair.
But it doesn't have to be like that. Today, males of all ages are removing unwanted hair from all parts of their body and are no longer being ostracized. This is progress.
Now let's take a look at the second case, when our society deems that it's inappropriate to have hair on certain parts of the body. Specifically females who are expected to remove this unwanted hair from their under arms and legs.
A male's masculinity may no longer be equated with how much hair he has, but apparently a female's femininity is. Because it's considered unfeminine, and even repulsive, for a female to allow her armpit or leg hair to grow. (Julia Roberts took quite a public lashing for exposing her hairy armpits ...)
Or, perhaps even worse, (still) - If a female allows this unwanted hair to flourish, she's labeled a lesbian. Which is really kind of confusing because at the very same time, females who shave their entire bodies are considered lesbians. 'Can't win for losing as they say.
But of course, these two cases are the extremes. And as most of us have learned, life is not really simply black and white. The truth lies somewhere in between, in the grey area. It's the same with unwanted hair.
The majority of people who remove hair from different parts of their body do so because they perceive it as unwanted hair. And even these people can change their minds and begin growing their hair again.
That's the neat thing about hair - It does grow back.
