When You Shave Your Bikini Line Area
|
Isn't it just great how smooth your skin feels when you shave your bikini line area? Too bad it doesn't last long.
It seems like in just a few hours, that smooth feeling has turned into a raging, inflamed, itchy feeling instead. And even worse - Because the bikini line is an area that stays moist and receives a great deal of friction, ingrown hairs appear within the next couple of days.
If you can relate to this experience, you're not alone. Most all of us have had this happen to us when we shave our bikini line areas.
Fortunately, there are some things you can do to at least limit these skin irritations. Beginning with what you do before you ever put that blade against your skin:
Take scissors or a hair trimmer and trim the longer pubic hairs down to a stubble. Don't dull your razor shaving these long hairs.
It's best if you can soak in a bath or take a long, hot shower to open the follicles, (the skin depressions from which hair grows), and relax these stiff, coarse pubic hairs. If you're not able to do so, at least place a hot cloth over the bikini line area for at least 3-5 minutes.
Apply a generous amount of a rich lubricant. Allow it to sit on your skin and hair for several minutes and make sure you have plenty of it when you shave your bikini line area.
ALWAYS use a fresh, clean blade in your razor EVERY TIME you shave your bikini line area.
Standing in the tub or shower with one leg hiked up on something that isn't slippery and will support your weight, begin at the the back and shave your bikini line with the direction the hair grows on the side and then up to the front. Don't apply much pressure.
Now, shave against the direction the hair grows. This will give you the close, clean and smooth shave you desire. And if you don't shave over any one area more than this second time, you won't get the skin irritations you don't desire.
How you care for this raw skin after you shave your bikini line area will also at least limit these skin irritations:
Thoroughly rinse the bikini line area with warm water. Then flush with cold water to soothe and tone this now agitated skin.
Pat, don't rub, the area with a clean and soft dry towel.
Dust your bikini line area with a talc free powder or just regular cornstarch. This will help ease itchiness and absorb moisture and oils, which can cause ingrown hairs.
Wear loose fitting clothing for a while to limit friction after you shave your bikini line area. Or think about shaving at night before you go to bed in your, "birthday suit".
A special note to the females: The pubic area can become quite sensitive during the time just before, during and just after your menstrual period. So shave your bikini line area outside of this part of your monthly cycle.
These are the things you can do before, during and after you shave your bikini line area with a wet razor to at least limit skin irritations.
