Imagine, if you will, a sailboat out on smooth waters, just sailing along. Nice and easy and relaxed. Now imagine this same sailboat on rough waters and what a struggle there is to ride them out without tearing up the boat. If your pubic region shaving feels more like the last scene, you're not alone.
The following information is offered to help steer you in the right direction for smooth shaving in the pubic region:
Pubic region shaving shouldn't be done when you first get up after sleeping. Body fluids have made the skin puffy, which makes it harder for the razor to get close to the hair follicle, (the skin depression from which the hair grows). Allow about 20-30 minutes. The skin will become more taut and the hair shafts more exposed. Besides, you definitely want to be fully awake and alert when you start your pubic region shaving.
You shouldn't even attempt pubic region shaving unless you're totally straight.
Trim down any longer hairs before you start your pubic region shaving with scissors or a hair trimmer. Don't dull your razor with these longer hairs and make it easier for yourself to see where you're going as you're shaving.
Always thoroughly moisturize your skin and hair before pubic region shaving. Take a nice, long, hot shower or soak in a tub if it's convenient. If not, at least apply a hot cloth for several minutes. Moisturizing your skin and hair this way will soften the hairs and open the follicles which will help your razor cut the hairs cleanly and closely as you're shaving your pubic region.
Apply a rich, moisturizing lubricant and allow it to sit on your hair and skin for at least 3 minutes, which will further help your razor do a good job as you're shaving.
ALWAYS use a brand new, clean blade in your razor EVERY TIME you start your pubic region shaving.
Start by shaving the pubic region in the same direction the hair grows. Shave the area again, against the direction the hair grows. This will provide a clean, close and smooth shave.
But be sure not to apply too much pressure or make any more repeated strokes than absolutely necessary when shaving your pubic region because both of these actions will not leave you with smooth skin.
Problems associated with pubic region shaving usually arise because the pubic region just naturally stays moist and receives a lot of friction.
To increase the chances of getting, and more importantly, keeping your skin smooth after shaving your pubic region, dust lightly with a talc free powder or just regular cornstarch, and wear loose fitting clothing for a while after shaving.
If at all possible, try to do your pubic region shaving late at night, just before you go to sleep so you can do without wearing any underwear.
A note to the females: Many of you may be aware that your pubic region becomes very sensitive at certain times of the month. Work around these times for the best results from your pubic region shaving.
Following the steps of this information will go a long way towards cutting down the "rough waters", you've known from pubic region shaving.
