Male Shaving Strategies

Male shaving these days can literally cover his head to his feet. Because many a male is shaving his head, his face, his chest, his under arms, his back, his pubic area and even his legs.

Yes sir, male shaving is keeping people in the shaving industry rich.

And whether a male is shaving any or every part of his body with a razor that somehow has some connection to the sound barrier and type of engine, or one whose name has something to do with an all wheel drive or even one that supposedly possesses some sixth sense to shave you or, heaven forbid, a cheapo disposable razor - The same strategies for male shaving apply.

Before a male starts shaving he should:

Trim down any long hairs to a stubble.

ALWAYS moisturize his skin and hair.

Apply whatever lubricant he prefers to further soften the hair, lock in moisture, help keep the hair erect, reduce friction and condition the skin.

If male shaving involves more than one area of the body, apply the lubricant to all areas and then start shaving the finest hair first. This will allow the lubricant to work on the coarser hair longer.

Once the skin and hair is fully moisturized, a male can begin shaving:

Gently pull the skin taut with one hand and draw the razor across the skin with the other in long or short strokes, depending on what part of the body a male is shaving.

Long strokes are best for legs. Short, quick strokes are better for the face and under arms. Shaving with about a thirty degree angle between the razor and skin works well.

A male should start shaving in the direction the hair grows to avoid creating razor burns/rash/bumps. Especially in areas of sensitive skin, or for males with super sensitive skin, this is the only way to go.

In less sensitive areas, such as the chest, back and legs, and as long as time was taken to fully moisturize the skin and hair and a rich lubricant is generously used, there shouldn't be any problems for a male to start shaving with the direction of hair growth first and then shave a second time against the growth.

Applying too much pressure or shaving over the same area repeatedly, especially in sensitive areas, will irritate the male skin while shaving.

Once a male is finished shaving, he should rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Then, he should splash cold water on the shaved area(s) to close the pores and calm and tone the skin.

These then, are the basic strategies for male shaving.

One last thing - There are tools other than the wet razor for male shaving.
