Armpit Shaving
If you've been to the pool or beach recently, you may have noticed something's missing. Male armpit hair. Yes - Isn't it great? Many males are now armpit shaving!
Now, for the most part, a male's armpit hair has been accepted and not a major concern. But - There have always been a few males whose armpit hair has been a real eyesore. And it's a relief to see that at least some of them are finally learning that armpit shaving or even just trimming is good - For everybody. Thank you.
Way back in the 1920's, known as, "The Roaring Twenties", female fashions allowed some skin. Mainly legs and arms. So it's been suggested that this is when armpit shaving became necessary.
Records reveal that armpit shaving was further spurred by an ad campaign in the 1920's, run by the Wilkinson Sword Company, that underarm hair was not hygienic or feminine.
But back then, not every female was wearing the daring, although shapeless "sack", dresses that exposed so much skin.
And apparently, armpit shaving didn't really become fashionable until a major fashion magazine published a picture of a model with hairless armpits wearing an elegant, sleeveless, evening gown.
Today, armpit shaving is the norm for most females. And not just in western societies anymore. Females the world over are shaving their underarm hair regularly for aesthetic reasons. Even though armpit shaving has to be done even more often than leg shaving, because this hair grows almost twice as fast as leg hair.
It's interesting to note that, (at least until recently, when males began armpit shaving), armpit shaving was considered a form of, "sex specific", grooming and it has actually been a bit of a sexual fetish.
Consider this - If body temperatures can be measured by placing a thermometer in the armpit, it means armpits are very sensitive areas. Armpit shaving will only make them more sensitive and, more appealing for sensual touching, licking and kissing.
Regardless if you're male or female, regardless why you're shaving under your arms, it's important to learn the art of armpit shaving so you'll get the smoothest results. Because as anyone who has shaved their underarms knows, irritated armpits really is the pits.
There isn't a whole lot to learn about armpit shaving. But what you do need to know is very important. For instance:
DO NOT, under any circumstances, even attempt armpit shaving with such a sharp object as a razor blade, unless you are fully awake and totally straight. 'Word to the wise.
And even though your under-arms tend to stay moist pretty much all the time, it's still a good idea that you moisturize this area either in a hot shower or bath, or at least by holding a warm cloth on it for 5-10 minutes before you begin your armpit shaving. Make sure all traces of any under arm deodorant or antiperspirant are removed as these will indeed irritate this sensitive skin.
Apply a good lubricant and allow it to sit on your hair and skin for a few minutes before armpit shaving.
ALWAYS use a clean and fresh blade in your razor. A dull blade will only pull and tear at these hairs. The last thing you want.
Now, to obtain the closest, but safest results as you're armpit shaving, use upward strokes and work towards your back.
Once both armpits have been shaved, rinse them thoroughly with warm water, making sure to get all of the lubricant off your skin.
Then, flush your armpits with as-cold-as-you-can-stand-it water. This will soothe your agitated pores.
Don't rub your armpits dry. Pat them dry with a clean, soft towel.
DO NOT apply any product containing alcohol or any other harsh chemicals after armpit shaving or you WILL be crying.
Instead, dust lightly with a talc free powder. This will absorb any moisture and oils that may irritate your newly shaved under arms.
See? Learning the art of armpit shaving isn't all that hard.
