Whether you're a male or a female, shaving the pubic area is a good idea, but - If after shaving you're left with swollen, red, splotchy, scabby skin and experience ingrown hairs that get infected, then you obviously need to learn a tip or two about how to do it better.
TIP: Did you know that what you do even before shaving the pubic area will improve the results? It's true.
So take a look at the following information to see if maybe you've missed a step -
Don't even think about shaving your, or anyone else's, pubic area unless you're fully awake and sober. This is a very sensitive area and placing a sharp instrument against it is dangerous enough already. Don't add to it by not being totally alert and straight.
Always trim long hairs down to a stubble with scissors or a hair trimmer before you start shaving your pubic area. Don't dull your razor with these long hairs and make it easier for you to see where you're going.
Always thoroughly moisturize your skin and hair before shaving your pubic area. Take a nice long hot shower or soak in a tub if it's convenient. If not, at least apply a hot cloth for several minutes. This will soften the hairs and open the pores which will help your razor cut the hairs cleanly and closely.
Always apply a rich lubricant that doesn't contain any harsh chemicals and allow it to sit on your hair and skin for at least 3 minutes. This will further soften the hair, lock in moisture, help keep the hair erect, reduce friction and condition your skin. All of which will help the razor glide easily to cut the hairs cleanly and closely as you're shaving your pubic area.
ALWAYS use a brand new, clean blade in your razor every time you start shaving your pubic area.
Okay - NOW you're ready to shave.
Start by shaving your pubic area in the same direction the hair grows. Then shave the area again, against the direction the hair grows. This will provide that clean, close and smooth shave you're wanting.
TIP: Do not apply too much pressure or repeat strokes more than this second time when shaving your pubic area. You will not get a closer shave. You will get razor burns, rashes and bumps.
TIP: Did you know that what you do after shaving your pubic area will improve the short and long term results? It's true.
The pubic area just naturally stays moist and receives a lot of friction.
You can increase the odds of keeping your newly shaved skin silky smooth by dusting lightly with a talc free powder, (or just regular cornstarch), and wearing loose fitting clothing for a while after shaving your pubic area.
